E.ON Drive Infrastructure and Drivers First are entering into a partnership to develop charging infrastructure for heavy-duty vehicles. As a first step, E.ON will build a public charging station for electric trucks at Drivers First’s new facility in Klinga, just south of Norrköping, Sweden. The charging station is planned to offer charging capacities of 400 kW and above and is expected to open in 2027.
The electrification of heavy-duty road transport is driving growing demand for high-power charging infrastructure in strategic locations. Klinga is situated next to the E4 motorway, one of Sweden’s most important transport corridors, and is set to become a key hub for the future of electric transport.
“The heavy-duty transport sector is undergoing a major transition towards electrification, and charging infrastructure needs to be available where transport operations take place. Klinga offers an excellent strategic location along the E4 and represents an important first step in our partnership with Drivers First,” says Marie Feuk, Managing Director of E.ON Drive Infrastructure Sweden.
Drivers First develops modern facilities for heavy-duty vehicles, offering secure truck parking and services for drivers and transport companies. Through the partnership, the facility will also provide charging infrastructure for electric trucks.
“Through our partnership with E.ON, we can combine our infrastructure for drivers and vehicles with the expertise of a leading charging infrastructure operator. Klinga will be our first joint location, and we see strong potential to expand the partnership further,” says Gustav Jacobsson, CEO of Drivers First.
The charging station is planned to offer charging power of 400 kW and above, meeting the transport industry’s need for fast and efficient charging stops.
E.ON Drive Infrastructure and Drivers First have also signed a framework cooperation agreement to explore opportunities for additional joint locations in the future.
