Free Period Products at Drivers First

Drivers First, which builds and operates secure parking facilities for professional drivers, has launched a partnership with RedLocker. From now on, free menstrual products—including tampons and sanitary pads—will be available at all facilities. A concrete step towards creating a more inclusive workplace on the road.

The road is Sweden’s largest workplace. Yet only 11 percent of the country’s truck drivers are women. Among newly hired drivers, the figure is 22 percent, showing that more and more women are entering the profession. But for more women to stay and thrive, safe and inclusive working environments are needed—both on the road and at rest areas.

Since its founding, Drivers First has worked to create safe and dignified rest facilities for professional drivers. Fenced facilities, CCTV surveillance, safe lighting and separate sanitary facilities are all a given. Now, the company is taking the next step through a partnership with RedLocker.

“Menstrual products shouldn’t be something you have to plan for, ask for, or sort out at the last minute. They should be a given—not a luxury. That’s why we’re proud to now offer free menstrual products at our facilities. This is a concrete way of showing that this profession is for everyone,” says Johanna Holmén, CCO at Drivers First.

RedLocker is a Swedish company working to make menstrual products accessible and free of charge in workplaces, schools and public spaces. Through the partnership, Drivers First will have access to RedLocker’s dispenser system, ensuring that menstrual products are always available—where they are needed, and for everyone who needs them.

“We are very happy to play a small part in Drivers First’s work to create safer and more inclusive rest areas. Providing menstrual products is a natural part of a modern workplace—regardless of whether the road is your place of work. If we want more women to enter the transport industry, we also need to proactively develop working environments where more people can both stay and want to remain,” says Liza Eriksson, Founder of RedLocker.

The partnership is part of Drivers First’s long-term commitment to creating a more inclusive and caring industry. The company sees this as one of many steps towards making the road a workplace where more people can—and want to—stay.
