Drivers First and TruckTrust join forces for safer working conditions and more secure transport
Drivers First and TruckTrust are entering into a strategic partnership to strengthen social sustainability and efficiency within the transport industry. By combining Drivers First’s parking and driver service solutions with TruckTrust’s digital parking platform, a market-leading and comprehensive offering is created for transport companies, cargo owners, and drivers.
The transport sector is critical to society, yet there is still no clear national strategy for secure parking, hygiene, and working conditions for professional drivers. As a result, drivers are in practice forced to work under conditions that few other essential professions would accept. They lack access to clean toilets, safe rest areas, and secure parking.
“We are talking about one of society’s most vital professional groups, yet drivers cannot take for granted that there will be a toilet or a safe place to rest. That is undignified. It is a systemic problem,” says Gustav Jacobsson, Drivers First.
Cargo theft from trucks is a growing European problem and is estimated to cause losses of nearly SEK 90 billion per year across Europe. In Sweden, the problem is not yet as extensive, but the industry warns that it is likely only a matter of time. The lack of secure parking affects not only drivers but the entire logistics chain, from cargo owners to end customers.
“We still have the opportunity to stop this before it escalates. If we wait, insecurity, theft, and rising costs risk becoming a normalized condition. Secure parking is not just a service issue. It is a fundamental prerequisite for delivery reliability, road safety, and competitiveness,” says Björn Paulsson, TruckTrust.
At the inauguration of LBC-Frakt’s new drivers’ facility in Karlstad, representatives from the transport sector gathered. Drivers First, TruckTrust, the Swedish Association of Road Transport Companies, the Swedish Transport Workers’ Union, and Transportföretagen agreed to take a joint initiative to raise industry standards for secure parking and driver-focused services.
“We are now doing the work that society and the state reasonably should be doing. When politics fails to keep pace, the industry takes responsibility for both people and goods,” says Lars Reinholdsson, TruckTrust.
Drivers First and TruckTrust emphasize that cargo owners and transport buyers play a key role by setting clear requirements for social sustainability, secure parking, and working conditions in their procurement processes. The ambition is to establish a new standard in which secure parking, digital services, and driver-focused facilities are not seen as optional add-ons, but as an integral part of transport infrastructure.
